Wood&Metal

To close the year, James Hall (flute), Mariam Adam (clarinet), and Mia Elezović (piano) come together for an evening of music for flute, clarinet, and piano. A stop in Montmartre with Valerie Coleman’s Portraits of Langston, inspired by the poetry of Langston Hughes, who discovered the jazz cabarets of Paris in 1924. The program also features the rhythmic exuberance of Guillaume Connesson, the Croatian voices of Šimun Matešić and Ivan Josip Skender, the klezmer-flavored energy of Olivier Truan, and the wit and lyricism of Dmitri Shostakovich. Three instruments in conversation, moving between tradition and today’s voices.
